Greg-Sitting

Greg Harrison

Born and raised in Rossland, Greg recently moved back to his hometown after living abroad for the past 14 years.

He started doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in January of 2010 while living in Shanghai, China under Stanley Tam and Ryan Melchiano at Shanghai BJJ.  

At the end of 2010, Greg moved to Vancouver where he continued his training at North Vancouver BJJ under Gracie Jiu Jitsu black belt Marc Marins.

Greg has been fortunate to take part in high level Brazilian Jiu Jitsu seminars which include Royce Gracie, Ryron GracieLeo Viera, Alberto Crane, Rafael Lovato Jr.Tony Eduardo Lima as well as training at Marcelo Garcia's gym in New York.

He received his blue belt from Stanley Tam and Tony Eduardo Lima in 2012 while visiting Shanghai.

He was awarded his purple belt in 2015 by Marc Marins.

 

Assistant Coach: Ken Postnikoff

Ken Postnikoff is an accomplished competitor and coach.  Having run Kootenai Judo and Jiu Jitsu for the last couple years he is now focused on helping all students at Kootenay BJJ reach their Jiu Jitsu goals.

Known for his "Kenmura", he has successfully won many competitions in Canada and the USA and has helped his students also prepare and win competitions at all belt levels.

Kenny is currently a Brown Belt under Benjamin Jolicoeur and has been training for over 10 years.  He has also spent time focused on MMA.

Ken brings a vast technical knowledge as well as a fun and outgoing personality that gives him great diversity in coaching skills for both kids and adults.

 

Assitant Coach: Shaun Taylor

Shaun Taylor brings years of professional coaching of high performance athletes to Kootenay BJJ.  He has been a student of martial arts for the majority of his life and received his Blue Belt from Greg Harrison and Marc Marins in 2016.

His background is pretty diverse. Spending 13 years in the military, during which time he was a team leader in an elite National Counter-Terrorism and Hostage Rescue team, known as JTF 2. Upon leaving the military, He taught at police colleges and public/private institutions, and worked internationally as a private consultant.

Shaun loves conceptual teaching and brings both mental and physical coaching strategies to the table.

Honourable mention goes to his son's Evan and Keegan who can be found helping in both the Kids and Teens classes.
